Dade Heritage Trust Annual Preservation Award 2025
In April 2025, our ground-up reconstruction of a 1920 wood-frame home at 117 Florida Avenue was honored with the Dade Heritage Trust Annual Preservation Award. Here is how Dade Heritage Trust described the project:
The beautifully restored 1920 wood-frame shotgun house at 117 Florida Avenue in Coral Gables’ McFarlane Homestead Historic District is a shining example of what preservation can achieve.
Thanks to the vision of owners Louis and Kim Duncanson and the skilled work of architect William Medellin, Solo Construction Management LLC, 4 Point Construction, and Alex Afanasyev, this once-deteriorated home has been meticulously brought back to life. Featuring new exterior wood siding, historically accurate windows, and a distinctive metal shingle roof, the project also received support from the City of Coral Gables Preservation Office.
This thoughtful restoration is a testament to the importance of honoring our architectural history in a neighborhood undergoing rapid change.
👏 Congratulations to the entire team behind this remarkable project!
